Calling all HelKats at university or just beyond!

A request from our Head of Sixth Form, Ms Doherty......

As you may recall, each year we ask recent leavers who are currently studying to fill out a questionnaire telling us about their experiences. You may well have looked at the responses when you were a student at St Helen’s, and the Careers and Higher Education department find them an invaluable source of information.

Please could I therefore ask all current university students to complete and return the questionnaire found by clicking here Your candid and honest descriptions of university life are a great insight!

Current St Helen’s students are considering their university and degree courses. At this time of year, we normally hold a university advice morning; that can’t happen but they’d still love to hear your thoughts on your subject choice and university, whether you are still at university, graduated years ago or anything in between. We thought a short video answering the questions below would be a great way to gather a range of responses.

We do hope you can help! A clip recorded on your phone is fine emailed to Faye Anderton at fanderton@shsk.org.uk with your name, university name and course name somewhere in the email too.

If possible, please could you answer the following questions in a short video:

  1. How are you finding/did you find your degree course? How are you/did you make the most of it? Which module are you enjoying/did you enjoy the most and why?
  2. Why did you choose your university? Is/Was it what you expected? What do/did you like most about your university? What do/did you do if you were ever struggling with work?
  3. What is/was your university and course like socially? How did you make friends?
  4. Budgeting – any top tips on making my money stretch further, going out, spending wisely?
  5. Top tips for students thinking about studying your subject – what to read, watch, do, buy in preparation for September?

Please submit your responses by 31 May at the latest but better still as soon as you are able to that we can collate them.

Thank you in advance for your support. We'll make sure we have double the amount of Olivier's cookies for you to enjoy at our next Old Girls event!
