Launched this year, the aim of Working Lunch is to provide a series of short lunchtime talks for students from all year groups to hear from a range of Old Girls about their career journeys so far. Although we run a busy careers education programme taught through the personal development curriculum, we know that it is the conversations with our Old Girls that can help to get our students thinking about their futures and to inspire them to investigate different sectors and opportunities.
We have also been keen for the Working Lunch series to link future careers with curriculum subjects which the students are currently studying. During our Careers Fortnight we were fortunate to have a Environmental Consultant Kate Godsmark (2011 leaver) giving us a great insight into her work and how she was able to take her love for Geography and the Environment into her working life and career.
We have also enjoyed a fantastic talk by an aviation pilot Katy Lee (2007 leaver) on how she has successfully reached her position despite being in a traditionally male dominated industry.
We are now busy planning more talks for the next academic year. If you would like to be involved with a Working Lunch talk, do get in touch.
