SHSK Society Talk - 'Life as a junior doctor in 2020' with Dr Lydia Akinola
Thursday 15 Oct 2020
Continuing our series of SHSK Society Talks, Our October event will be a chance to hear from 2010 leaver, Dr Lydia Akinola.
Join us on Thursday 16 October to hear Lydia's talk: 'Life as a Junior Doctor in 2020'.
Dr Lydia Akinola is an Obstetrics & Gynaecology trainee in the Thames Valley (Oxford Deanery). After completing medical school ‘up North’ in Sheffield, she stayed for foundation training (the wonder of the Peaks was a good enough reason to stay) before heading back towards home to study for a MSc in Reproductive and Sexual Health Research in London. Whilst locuming in several London trusts mainly as a Psychiatry junior, she finally decided women’s health was the way forward and has not looked back since.
During this talk, Lydia will give 'a day in the life' account of her role as a junior doctor in 2020, discussing both the challenges and opportunities which exist both for her, personally and for those working as medics.
