Last term we were delighted to welcome back alumnae and parents to our first face-to-face SHSK Society Professional Networking Event since the pandemic. This was our seventh Professional Networking Event and was for those who work or have an interest in the charity sector, or who simply wished to learn more about how charities work.

The evening began with networking over drinks and canapes in the Benedict Building before Mathew Iredale, Head of Alumnae Relations and Fundraising, introduced our expert panel in the impressive new Benedick Hall:

  • Sarah Hamilton-Fairley, Joint CEO of UK Sepsis Trust (our school charity last year)
  • Alison Railton, SHSK alumna and Head of Policy and External Affairs at Kidney Research UK
  • Jenna Chick, SHSK alumna and Partnerships Manager at CoppaFeel!

The panel discussed a range of issues in the charity sector including diversity in charities, how charity fundraising has been affected by the pandemic and the different routes into working for a charity.

We are now in the process of planning our next Professional Networking Event and will let you have more details later in the year. If there is a particular sector you would like us to consider, or you would like to speak at one of our Professional Networking Events, then do please get in touch at alumnae@shsk.org.uk.
